Hey there! I’m Shawna.

I’ve got a PhotoJournalism degree and over a decade experience photographing rad humans. Just sayin’.

So happy you're here!

I’m the sort of person that strangers at the grocery store tell their life stories too. Americano and Irish Whiskey are my jam, at their respective times of the day. I make a conscious effort every day to pick up a book more than I pick up my phone. Too much mindless scrolling, ya know?

I am an avid list maker who understands the importance of rolling with the punches (like trying to remember the grocery list when you've left it on the counter).

People allow me a very intimate glimpse into their lives. I get to preserve for them everything from the most important to the (seemingly) mundane. I truly consider this job a sacred right that's earned through opening up to strangers and telling terrible jokes. I'm not saying I'm funny (at all) but I can (usually) get nearly anyone to laugh (I'd dare call it a strength).

  • I learned photography in a darkroom in High School

  • My BA is from Saint Scholastica

  • I started under the wing of some of Duluth’s top photogs

  • I’ve been shooting weddings since 2012

I'm the lucky wife of a handsome (globally published + award-winning! (I’m not even joking, he is amazing)) poet, two kitties, one old rescue pup, and 7 and 9-year-old rad human children. We spend as much time as possible either in the woods or near the water. Like, any free day that we have.
